About Us
On the occasion of National French Week (November, 1-8), the Embassy of France in the United States, in association with the American Association of Teachers of French and the Québec Government Office in Los Angeles, presents its third edition of the Dictée des Francophones, a celebration of the Francophonie for all French learners in North America.

“As French as the Eiffel Tower”, it is said that dictation is one of the most famous and popular school exercises in the French-speaking world.
This year and as the Paris 2024 Olympic Games are approaching, the event will celebrate the diversity of the French language throughout the French-speaking world by putting sports in the spotlight!

Roseline Filion, double medallist at the London (2012) and Rio (2016) Olympic Games in diving, will lend her voice to the texts. Now a sports columnist, the Canadian champion will also cover the next Olympic Games in Paris!
Procedure
The dictation texts will be accompanied by educational sheets for teachers and students, to help prepare for the exercise and highlight the different French lexicons.
Registrations are open!
After selecting appropriate level(s), the material (texts, recordings, educational sheets) will be sent out on October, 27. If your registration follows this date, you will receive the material at the end of the week corresponding to your registration.
Once the material is recieved, you will have until the end of November to organize the event in class and to share photos of your dictée from your establishment using the hashtag #DicteeDesFrancophones2023 on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter to be entered into a raffle drawing for prizes provided by our partners Bayard & Milan, France Channel, Hachette FLE & Klett World Language.

To enter the lottery and try winning one of our prizes provided by our partners Bayard & Milan, France Channel & Klett World Language, and Hachette FLE, you must share photos of your dictée from your school/establishment using the hashtag #DicteeDesFrancophones2023 (Instagram, Facebook or Twitter) before the end of November.
Pictures must be public and tagged with #DicteeDesFrancophones2023.
Please make sure that you have the required approvals or hide children's faces.
Each teacher participating will recieve one year subscription to France Channel !
